J. Stephen Brown

J. Stephen Brown, (better known as Steve Brown), is a fifth-generation Wilson County native on both his mother's and father's sides.  Steve's first job was delivering the Tennesseean newspaper on his bicycle, before moving up to shoeshine boy at Ideal Barbershop on the Lebanon square.
 
Steve was educated in the Lebanon public schools, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1971.  Steve attended Cumberland Junior College, then received his bachelor of arts degree cum laude from the University of Tennessee.  Steve graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Law in 1979, and was licensed to practice law that same year.    While in law school, Steve worked as a student staffmember at the UT Legal Clinic, and also served as Vice-President of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.  Prior to opening his own practice in Lebanon in 1983, Steve worked under Judge Rodney Ahles and Jim Kinnard in Lebanon, followed by a stint in Mt. Juliet at the law offices of Dean Robinson and Judge John Gwin. 
 
Steve is married to Caroline Bowers Brown, a retired kindergarten teacher who is now employed at Cumberland University.  They reside in Lebanon.  They have one daughter, Erin, who is a professional stylist.

Jennifer Moore Porth

Jennifer is an attorney whose practice is focused in the areas of personal injury, family law, conservatorships for special needs children, and Social Security/VA disability benefits.  In her personal injury practice, she focuses on automobile and trucking accidents, wrongful death, medical malpractice, and premises liability on behalf of her clients and their families.
Before beginning the practice of law in 2007, Jennifer was employed by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs as a disability claims examiner and was a post-certified law enforcement officer.  Her prior employment background has given her invaluable knowledge and experience as she has transitioned her career as a litigation attorney.

Jennifer is a member of the Tennessee Association for Justice (formerly the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association), and the Fifteenth Judicial Bar Association where she currently serves as Treasurer.  She is married to Bill Porth, and they have two children, Ana and Drew.  They are members of Lebanon First United Methodist Church, where she serves on the Staff Parrish Relations Committee and is active in the youth missions program.  She is a member of the Lebanon/Wilson County Chamber of Commerce and volunteers for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and in various community events through Friendship Christian School.
